Samsung has officially acknowledged M5650 Lindy as Corby’s (S3650) elder sibling. It will offer the same trendy looks of Corby to appeal to youngsters but with more connectivity options.

M5650 feature set includes a 2.8-inch touchscreen display with Cartoon UI, social networking support, 3MP camera, FM Radio, one finger zoom, microSD card slot, music player and dedicated music keys. On the connectivity front, the M5650 offers 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB 2.0. It also comes with two interchangeable battery covers in black or blue.

The phone is currently available in Portugal for 149 euros (US5) and will expand soon to other European and Asian countries.

As we posted before, the Samsung Galaxy has launched on ‘big blue’, and is available from .95 on a 3-year term, 9.95 on a 2-year, 9.95 on a 1-year or 9.95 outright. The Galaxy runs a stock version of Android (1.5) and packs a not-so-bad feature set… and besides all of the groovy Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Apps you’ll get built-in, you’ll also get a free Vancouver 2010 decal. Yay!

The device itself packs a 3.2″ AMOLED touchscreen display, WiFi, 8GB of memory, 40GB via microSD, video calling, 1500 mAh battery… Oh, and the camera? It’s a 5MP camera with auto-focus, LED flash and video. Not bad.

Both phones sport full QWERTY keypads, QVGA touchscreen displays, and will be targeted at young mobile users. The CorbyPro B5310 will cost 13,900INR (9) and will sport GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headphone jack, and 3.2-megapixel camera; The CorbyPlus B3410 has a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2-megapixel camera, but lacks Wi-Fi and GPS. The CorbyPlus B3410 will cost 10,050INR (6).

The super-Corby that is the Samsung M5650 Lindy sneaked into availability rather covertly and there were practically no good-quality photos of it. Now, we have live shots of the Neon Blue color version, and they give a much better view of the phone.

Design-wise the Samsung M5650 Lindy is quite similar to Samsung S3650 Corby but it’s seriously beefed up. It’s not high-end by any means, but its bang-for-buck ratio is quite high thanks to the added dedicated music buttons, HSDPA, and Wi-Fi.

Sure, Samsung have another Wi-Fi enabled Corby in the pipeline – the Samsung S3650W Corby – but that’s in the rumor mill for now.

The Samsung M5650 Lindy is definitely worth a look. It costs 149 euro (219 US dollars) but unfortunately, it will only be available in Portugal (and who knows, maybe Spain). Just as a reminder, for that kind of money, you can get the smartphone Nokia 5230 and 5530 XpressMusic.
